Q: Can you explain the photo session process?

A:  Once you decide to book with K. Travers Photography, you will receive a welcome packet which will include a welcome letter, the complete pricing list, what to wear guide, a questionnaire (so we can get to know you better) and more information about our services. We will then book your pre-consultation appointment 7-10 days before your session and at this appointment we will go over what your goals are for your photo session, any treasured keepsakes you would like included in your photos, your plans for the location you chose and any questions you may have for us will be answered at that time. This appointment can either be handled in person or over the phone, whichever is more convenient for you.

The photo session will take place at a location of your choosing (or we can recommend one for you) and generally will last between 1-2 hours, newborn photo sessions usually take about 3 hours to complete.

A sneak peek of your images will be posted to the K. Travers Photography blog and Facebook page (if you would like) no later than 3 days after your photo session. 7-10 days after your photo session, we will sit down in a location that is convenient for you and review the photographs we captured during your session in your ordering appointment. At that time we will go over the different collections available for you and build any wall art or products you plan on purchasing. You are guaranteed a gallery of at least 40 images to choose from and each image can be shown to you in color or black and white.

After your ordering session, you can expect your smaller items such as prints, cards, digital files to arrive within 2 weeks and larger items such as canvas wall art, framed enlargements and custom albums to arrive within 8 weeks. All products will be hand delivered to your home and will need to be signed for. Convenience in all aspects of your experience with K. Travers Photography is our ultimate goal!

Q: Why K. Travers Photography?

A: We make it our goal in every session to provide our customers with an unmatched experience from start to finish. From the time you book your session until your artwork is delivered, we make sure everything about your experience with K. Travers Photography is convenient and pleasurable. We truly enjoy every aspect of the experience of creating custom artwork that can be treasured for years to come.

Q:  How much should we expect to spend?

A: There is no minimum print order required but most clients invest between $500 – $800 dollars per session. This estimate includes the $150 session fee due at booking.

Q: What is included with my session fee?

A: Your session fee secures your photo session date with K. Travers Photography, the time and talent of Kim during your pre-consultation appointment, portrait session and ordering appointment. Kim will answer any questions you may have regarding wardrobe, style of session, location recommendations and any questions regarding products that are offered. The fee also includes Kim’s time and talent when applying minor retouching of images after your session. Because of these services offered, the session fee is non-refundable.

Q: What type of photographer are you? What is your style?

A: The best way to get to know more about our style is to find us on Pinterest at https://www.pinterest.com/KimmyTrav81 – there you will see the photos that inspire us, colors and styles we are drawn to, and helpful tips for clients such as what to wear guides, etc. Kim defines her photographic style as emotive, authentic, and a mix photo journalistic and traditional posing. We believe the art of posing a client to look their very best along with using the correct lighting can make or break a photograph. We strive to provide our customers with true works of art that are authentic representations of themselves and their families.

Q: When you say authentic, does that mean you don’t believe in using Photoshop?

A: When we say we believe our style is authentic, we simply mean our goal is to capture the true emotions of your family during your photo session. While we will offer you a mix of traditionally posed photographs that will have everyone looking at the camera, we will also capture completely un-posed and unplanned moments as well. In our opinion, those moments are the truly magical moments especially in sessions that include children or pets. After your session, we will naturally enhance your images in Photoshop to fix certain issues such as flyaway hairs or skin issues (blemishes, scars, etc) but extensive enhancements such as teeth whitening, body slimming, etc. will cost an additional editing fee.

Q: How far in advance should we book?

A: To answer this question properly, first we need to determine what kind of session you require. Family portrait sessions can be booked all year long, but if you would like the photos for a holiday card, please book your appointment no later than September. The first week of October is usually the best time to capture the rich fall foliage before the leaves fall from the trees so booking in September will give us plenty of time to plan your session. Plus card orders take about 2 weeks to arrive but wall art orders can take up to 8 weeks to arrive.

Maternity sessions are best when photographed after you reach 30 weeks. This way we will clearly see that gorgeous belly and pregnancy glow, the second trimester is generally the time when most mommie’s to be feel their best, the morning sickness recedes and you will have more energy. To allow enough time to plan your session, please call when you are in your second trimester.

Newborn portraits are best captured when your little one is between 1-14 days old. After two weeks of age, babies will be more alert and possibly unable to get into the traditional sleeping posed positions. But even if you book after the two week mark, we will still be able to capture your beautiful baby with a more lifestyle approach to your portrait session. This simply means we will capture less posed traditional sleepy newborn photos and more photos of your sweet little one awake and alert. Please call when you are in your second trimester to ensure your desired date is available.

Baby portraits are best captured when your little one can sit up unsupported, which is usually around 6-9 months in age. By this time, your sweet baby will more than likely have a few teeth that he or she will love to show off while giggling those delicious belly laughs!

Dance studio portrait sessions are booked on the weekends between the months of April-June. These sessions typically book very fast so customers are encouraged to contact us in January or February to ensure your specified date will be available. Some dance studios can be booked during the week if desired weekend appointment is already booked.

School portrait sessions are booked at local schools during the week between the months of February – April and again at the end of August – October. These sessions also book quickly so customers are encouraged to contact us in January for Spring Portraits and July for Fall Portraits.
